The Hardy Brother’s Foundation, in conjunction with Ruby’s House, is pleased to launch the Foster Youth Anti-Suicide Campaign to distribute free copies of a book filled with understanding and hope to foster care agencies and schools across the country. Our goal is simple: to remind every young person that their life matters, their story matters, and their future is bright.

About The Book
“The basic need of all human beings is to feel lovable, capable, worthwhile, and responsible. After suffering trauma, neglect, and separation from their families, foster youth often feel hopeless, helpless, and frustrated by their situation. Perceiving to not have a voice or control over their circumstances, many feel abandoned and forgotten, slipping into despair and disdain for life.
Understanding these issues in child welfare, the need for suicide prevention, and self-esteem awareness is crucial for youth in foster care. This book encourages and empowers youth to feel valued and validated, inspiring them to identify as victors rather than victims. Not only could youths’ lives be saved but also positively changed, proffering amelioration of their futures.”

Message From The Author
If you’re reading this, you might be a young person facing some challenges right now—maybe even really tough ones. I had my own share of struggles growing up. There were days when I wondered why I was being punished, and times when I thought the world, or my mom, would be better off without me. For some reason, I could never picture myself as an adult. Even though I had such a strong mother, I still felt lost at times due to our circumstances. I’m here as an example that things can improve. Hard times are just temporary blips in the grand scheme of things. Your attitude, focus, perspective, determination, and a bit of creativity can make a big difference in how your life can change. I am living proof of that, and I need you to be living proof too. I am still here for a reason. Part of that reason is to be here for you. You are here for a reason too. Your story, your dreams, your smile WILL make this world a better place. You are loved. You are worthy. You are meant to be. You’ve got this. Don’t let anyone dim your light.
